KPTSA COMMUNITY FORUM OPINIONS

Anyone that says anything other than great job is negative.

Anyone that wants improvement is undermining.

Anyone that wants excellence is told to leave.

And, when information that is of public record does get out, they blame the messenger and don't address the problem.

That is what makes the district look bad not this blog. The other side is demanding more for their children and for yours. That is not negative. That is not unhappiness. That is people that understand success and no longer want to perpetuate poverty, negligence and abuse.

Rather than be undermining or negative -
to the boys that smoked illegal drugs inside the school during the school day, great job! People do it in the movies too. Maybe you have a future in it.

To those that vandalize the school with spray paint and kicked in doors and windows. Good work. That was just some boyish glee.

As to the continued violence inside the building - let's focus on the positive. They were very nice punches that landed on the other kids face.

Imagine the sense of accomplishment for those that get a diploma in this district. 4 out of 10 kids don't.

I for one am proud that we spend more than 2 million dollars each and every year more than Caledonia-Mumford (which has more students.) It shows we care more.

I was so impressed with the use of profanity in the play and the open-mindedness of the board, administration and parents that let it go on. Our kids say &*(% and #^%$ better than any other kids in the county!

You've got to admire the willingness of the district to give new people opportunities as we continue to hire the least experienced administrators in the county and pay them the most. Other school's superintendents hold no sway here. God forbid we hire someone that knows what they are doing!

Only in Nunda can someone without a degree get a job over someone that has it. That shows how much we value education!

And on a positive note good work to the police. It's nice to see that they work with the school and are down there every week. Between the Nunda PD, the state troopers and the county sheriff they are at the building all the time. That says something about our district. Keep up the good work!

It's also nice to have one school in the county that allows bullying to go on continuously. Otherwise, how would these children be able to express themselves?

I'm also proud to have a district with students of such high morals at a young age choose to be fruitful and multiply.

I'm proud that our district was the only one in the county cited by the state. Even though it was for a district that needs to improve.

Thanks to some recent additions to the community we have some sexual predators living among us. At least we welcome all people. Proud of that too.

There's so much to be proud of. Stop moaning and complaining! Good job everyone!

Just reading the latest statements over Christmas vacation? Who is this curriculum cooridinator they speak of? As the New Year approcahes, I hope the Keshequa Community makes a resolution to oust these Board Members when he/she's term expires. Anyone Care to join me with that resolution?

Just another voice that goes unheard by deaf ears of the Board and Superintendent.

Enough already of your complaining and moaning. Leave- go somewhere else and be happy (though I doubt you will ever achieve real happiness as many here seem to embrace negativity as a way of life). How about all the good things- the great kids, their efforts, their accomplishments? What if- wow what a concept- what if we dwell on that???? To the last writer: do you ever watch movies (with child actors) who swear or watch musicals with questionable language? There are instances of that all around. I don't agree with it but the kids are portrying a character. You should have left if you were grousing all the way through. The kids worked hard and they were great. By the way- I know superintendants in other districts, too- their opinions carry no weight. Get off your high horse!

As for the concert- kids are kids. A moment of childish glee captured the boy- that doesn't mean you crucify the family. What is wrong with you people? Let's be positive. We need more productive opinions stated in more productive ways. It is this blog and you ridiculous naysayers who make us look bad.

I had friends come to town for Christmas in Nunda. We shopped and ate out and then attended the theatrical production at the Nunda school. I was mortified!!!!

The profanity in the production was unbelievable. One of the men with our group is a school board member at another much more successful school. Afterward, he said it was obvious why our school has become the worst school in the county and that a play like this would have NEVER happened at his school.

I tried to give the school board and administration the benefit of the doubt and said that perhaps no one knew what the play was about or the wording of the script. He reminded me that the administration is paid to know and paid well at that.

I'm sick of making excuses for the school and the school board and our results. He's right. The administration is paid to know. Furthermore, each and every student that participated in that production was in violation of the school rules. When my son played soccer he couldn't use profanity on the field, but if he were in the drama club, then it would be ok?

There should be no discipline for the student using profanity in the hall when as a school community we endorsed it on the stage. It's no wonder we have the problems we have.

Everyone associated with this production should be disciplined, the administration for a lack of oversight, the person in charge of extra curricular activities and the drama club advisors for lack of judgment and the students that willingly used profanity on stage and during practice. Instead, we have made it acceptable to use words that I won't even say!!!! And we charged admission.

This community should be ashamed of itself. I should have walked out and so should have all of you!

Shame on this school board for not speaking up and doing something about it. Who is in charge up there????

I am disgusted!

Next time I invite friends to Christmas in Nunda we won't be stopping at the school. I don't want to be embarrassed again.

The comments that have been posted twice appear to be only as select as the information board members choose act on and choose to ignore.

I am very curious as to why the blog has chosen to repeat a few of the previous responses posted on this next page? They appear to be select. Hmmm...

Why would anyone think this district can behave in a manner that is aboveboard and honest? I believe being sneaky and dishonest is a job requirement for anyone in authority in the district. The actions described in the previous letter have happened to many district employees for a long time. Those in authority cannot deal with problems honestly and openly everything must be hushed up and swept under the carpet when dealing with employee dismissals. Here's a novel approach: You want good, solid employees and a school parents can be proud of? Lead your employees by example don't make them afraid of what will happen if they do the right thing, don't encourage bad behavior and sneaky attitudes. Don't blame dismissals and bad decisions on previous administrations, as is your habit. Believe me, the truth will come out and make you look worse than you do right now. To the previous letter writer: I hope everything worked out well for you and I for one am glad you spoke out. Let this town see this has been going on for far too long and still continues to this day maybe someday we will have a district that we are'nt ashamed to say we came from.

Thank you once again for a delightful holiday concert. I have one complaint; To the extremely rude, ill-mannered children that felt it was their right to disrupt the concert SHAME ON YOU, you, more than any others in the district, should know how to behave! I have no children in school here but do enjoy the concerts so I invited my out-of-town guests to what I thought would be a nice evening. Having sat through this same behavior during many other concerts I hoped it would not repeat but, alas, it did. Imagine my pride, when I was asked "Who these kids were and where were the parents?" (-----) For my further concerts I think I will go elsewhere and not have to be embarrassed by these children and their friends. (-----). To the children who worked so hard to prepare for the concert BRAVO you did a wonderful job. Try not to be disheartened by the bad behavior and to others please don't act as these individuals; did rise above it and make Keshequa a school to be proud of, regardless of the those who choose to let their children act this way. (This opinion has been edited)

For everyone who thinks Ed Stores is just the nicest guy, I have news for you. He was just another cookie cutter superintendant out for himself and no one else. I had dealings with him while working for the school, and the way he decided to go about getting rid of myself and one other was extremely low, and not behvavior worthy of someone of his position. Following our sneaky dismissal, the other person recieved a letter from Mr. Stores. He had brought a personal computer from home in to use at one point several years ago, so when we were terminated we removed that and everything else that belonged to us. The letter he received, though worded very nice and proper, basically accused him of stealing his own computer. At that point we both decided it was time to retain legal council in order to stop the negative aspersions to our character. We sent a return letter through our lawyers office, and that was the last we heard out of him. Just remember, the Devil can smile too.

My wife, the board member, would prefer that I express myself on KPTSO web site and not in the shopper, so here goes. In response to those who think the Board doesn't know what's going on in our schools, let me say they've heard the allegations. Members of the BOE have no excuse for not knowing what's going on in our schools and the reluctance of staff to speak freely and to apply for certain positions. The truth is; some Board members don't want to know, some Board members don't want to do anything about what's going on, and some Board members don't see a problem with what's going on in our schools. In short they've chosen to be dumb, stupid, and ignorant. (Remember that bonus given to the Super.) I thought the Board was finally going to address part of our problems at the last BOE meeting when Mr. Ewing asked if we did exit interviews. But, the end result of Mr. Ewing's inquiry was that the Administration will formalize the informal exit interview process they now have. So continue to practice those 'how great and wonderful the admin.'s been' exit lines, and how you'll convincingly swear you'll never tell anyone after you leave. Face it we have a Board that won't go beyond the window dressing and deal with the problem. Privately, our President likes to blame the board for inaction. But, doesn't that make her part of the problem too? We no longer have bad leadership, what we lack is good leadership. It is unfortunate that our kids suffer because members of the Board of Education lack the moral and ethical foundation necessary to improve our schools. - David Waddle

I'd like to thank the KPTSO for hosting this site, and those responsible for maintaining it. Although I don't read it that often, I do know that it serves a valuable and needed function. It is unfortunate that certain topics and problems tend to dominate discussion. But, those topics would not consume this site if the BOE and Superintendent didn't share the same values and abilities. More specifically, if the BOE did not support and reward the creation of an environment where parents and staff are afraid to talk openly, without fear of reprisal. Like a fool, I once had hope that this BOE wanted to make Keshequa a better place and a change from the past. It's clear to me that our BOE would rather see our schools destroyed program by program, teacher by teacher, student by student, then to act in the interest of the district. I wonder if we'll ever get a BOE that cares more about our schools and lives destroyed, then having a seat next to the Superintendent. Maybe, it's best if Governor Paterson does close our school. At least other districts could no longer refer to our 'Special K(eshequa)' education at our 'Special K' school.

Newspapers report other districts can't afford to educate students who live outside the District and go to great lengths to investigate this. What about Keshequa? Newspapers report on a school board which posts a Superintendent's goals and bonuses on their District's website because "We (school board) want to be transparent, we were elected to represent the taxpayer." What about Keshequa ? Newspapers report about other Districts being proactive, trying to save tax dollars, and investiagting consolidations. What about Keshequa? I can understand a Superintendent being so self serving but where is our school board ? These are facts but what about the whispered conversations in the community? Usually where there is smoke there is fire.....What is the real reason there are no Jr HS computer classes ? Did a recent arrest really uncover a sexual predator preying on our students ? What is the school e-mail being used for ? PLEASE Can't somebody help us before its too late?
