NOTICE
TO THE KESHEQUA COMMUNITY:
At
the close of this school year on June 30, 2008, the Keshequa Parent, Teacher,
Student Association (KPTSA) will be reorganizing. We will now be referred to
as the Keshequa Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (KPTSO). This decision
was made with much thought and due to the demands and other interests of the
present KPTSA officers and lack of assistance at KPTSA sponsored functions,
the KPTSA board has decided to reorganize and no longer be affiliated with
the National PTA. For us this means we will no longer be required to
maintain a membership or hold the required number of meetings. We feel any
donations we receive will be better spent locally and directly on our
children rather than sending a better part of it to the National PTA. This
year the KPTSA was able to donate money to the D.A.R.E program, Odyssey of
the Mind competition trip, KFLO family night, Senior Leadership awards, along
with other student oriented functions.
The
KPTSO will still be sponsoring some of the more popular functions such as the
Scholastic Book Fair in the Fall and the Santa’s Secret Shop. We will also
continue to sponsor the scholarship awards offered to the graduating class
each year. We have had to limit the activities that the KPTSA previously
sponsored throughout the year because we simply do not have enough volunteers
willing to help.
The
newly formed KPTSO still needs your help! Even though we are no longer
affiliated with the PTA, we still need volunteers to run the organization.
The time it takes will be minimal and there are, at present, only two
fundraisers to organize. It would be great if we could keep giving to the students
educational environment along with the other organizations that come to us
for help. Unfortunately, that will not be the case if others are not willing
to take over.
The
KPTSO will still maintain our webpage which includes many useful links for
parents, teachers and students. Our web address is www.kptsa.org.
If
you have any ideas, questions or if you would like to volunteer to oversee
the organization, please contact: Mark Ewing -- madimo@frontiernet.net, Carol
